One of key disadvantages of solar power system is on its large
size of solar panels. In order to generate sufficient energy to power your
home, you may need to install multiple solar panels, which require quite a
large area for installation. Hopefully, future enhanced technology on solar
power system will improve the efficiency with smaller solar panels.
3. Rely on the sun
Although the sunlight is free, if your home can't receive
sufficient sunlight, then the standalone solar power system won't be an alternative power solution
for your home as it relies on the sun. Similarly, no solar energy will be
generated during nighttime, so you need a battery backup system to solve the
problem. You may also need a backup system that uses other energy sources if
you leave at a location where you don't receive sunlight for whole year.
